About the University of Sunderland
Located in the Northeast of England, the University of Sunderland has over 20,000 students with over 4,000 from overseas. They are an innovative, forward-thinking university in the heart of one of the UK’s most up-and-coming cities. The University has strong links with industry and business, and offer high standards of teaching, research and support. Furthermore, they were named University of the Year for Social Inclusion in the Sunday Times University Guide 2021.
In addition, the University of Sunderland has been awarded a four-star rating in the 2019 QS Stars rating system. This rating system considers over 50 different categories including employability, teaching, facilities and research, then ranks participating institutions from one to five stars accordingly, helping prospective students to decide where to study.
As well as the overall four star rating, Sunderland was awarded the maximum rating of five stars for teaching, employability, internationalisation, facilities and inclusiveness. The University was also awarded Silver status in Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) which was introduced to build evidence about the performance of the UK’s world-class higher education sector.
The University of Sunderland has a wide range of quality programmes in Business, Computing, Medicine, Pharmacy, Design, Education, Engineering, Politics, Law, Media, Journalism, Social sciences, Sport, Tourism and much more.
The University has a commitment to Equality. Diversity and Inclusion was reinforced recently when they were named University of the Year for Social Inclusion (The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2021) and their We Care programme picked up the Widening Access Initiative (Retention and Progression) Award at the 2020 NEON awards.
